How silence alerts work
Last updated October 22, 2026
SilenceRadar marks a watched site silent when it has no visitors for longer than its threshold during hours it normally has traffic, or when today's sessions are far below the same weekday. It then checks the site's address and emails you whether the site is down or the tag is broken, and emails again when visitors return.
States
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Live | Visitors in the last 30 minutes |
| Quiet | No visitors for longer than the threshold during normally active hours |
| Silent | Quiet for twice the threshold, or today far below the same weekday. An alert is sent |
| No data | Google Analytics returned an error for this property |
Change the settings for a site
- 1
Open the site
On the Radar, select the site to open its details.
- 2
Adjust silence watch
Turn watching on or off, choose how long a site must be without visitors (30 minutes to a day), and check the website address used for the down check.
Where alerts are delivered
Alerts go to your account email and to any channels you add on the Alerts page: more email addresses, Slack through an incoming webhook, or a webhook URL. Webhook requests carry an X-SilenceRadar-Signature header so you can verify they came from SilenceRadar.
